Reparations for Black People that Restore and Promote Equity

For many years, reparations have been on the tongues of presidential candidates, legislators, and politicians, making it a topic of controversy among members of society. The thought of reparations may have been used as a strategy to secure the Black vote, but it is now a critical issue requiring immediate resolve. Considering the two hundred plus year unpaid labor source transitioning into a permanent underpaid labor source, reparations are necessary for the descendants of enslaved Black Americans. This white paper explores reparations through a close study of a family’s generational employment history that weaves a narrative of wealth divestment instead of wealth accumulation.
