State Feminist Judgments are judicial opinions from state appellate and supreme courts reimagined and rewritten through an intersectional feminist lens. Our Project is an expanding collection of rewritten judicial opinions, white papers, toolkits, and other advocacy materials that, when used in tandem, advance us toward liberation, equity, and a just society.
This Project is for everyone who wonders what would happen if judges centered the lived experiences of the people whose cases they decide. What if justice was the goal of the legal system? What if the judiciary was a branch of government charged with protecting a multiracial, multicultural democracy?
SFJP demands that we imagine the legal system and social justice advocacy as necessary features of hope - hope for a world that lies beyond this present moment where we build stronger and inclusive systems to protect, advance, and defend a multiracial, multicultural democracy.
