SFJP Submission Guidelines
Feminist Judgment Submission Guidelines
A Feminist Judgment is a rewrite of a state or federal legal opinion from an appellate or court of last resort through a feminist, multicultural lens that utilizes critical and comparative rhetorical approaches. You can learn more about critical & comparative rhetoric in this article and/or this book. Our preference is to publish rewritten opinions from state courts written by law students. However, we will accept rewritten U.S. Supreme Court opinions, especially if they originated from your state and are contextualized in its varied histories, traditions, and social relationships.
Submission Guidelines:
You may submit your Judgment by e-mailing it as an attachment to submissions@feministjudgments.org. Include your name, institutional affiliation, state, and a non-university e-mail where you can be reached. Please submit your work as a typed and double-spaced document in Word or Pages format with the default formatting for those document types in-tact.
We ask that you utilize the appropriate citation format(s) relevant to the sources you cite (e.g., The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Legal Citation or The ALWD Guide to Legal Citation for legal citations; the Chicago Manual of Style for humanities and social science citations, etc.). SFJP does not have a page count or word limit.
We encourage you to review the Judgments on our website to get a feel for what we publish, and to view these guidelines to help you get started with your Judgment. If you would like access to The States Feminist Judgments Project Drafting Handbook, e-mail us at about@feministjudgments.org.

Feminist Judgment Commentary Submission Guidelines
A Feminist Judgment Commentary is an analytical essay that precedes the Feminist Judgment and situates it in various contexts (social, political, economic, religious, etc.), as well as in the context of intellectual ideas. The Commentary is a critical analysis of the Judgment that highlights its strengths and points of divergence from the original opinion. It also serves as an integral introduction of the reader to the Judgment, and offers key connections about its relationship to justice and equity for those likely to be impacted by it. Our preference is to publish Commentaries for Judgments that already exist on our website or that are submitted in tandem with Judgments, written by law students or law and graduate student partnerships.
Submission Guidelines:
You may submit your Commentary by e-mailing it as an attachment to submissions@feministjudgments.org.
