The States Feminist Judgments Project approaches state judicial opinion writing from critical, multicultural feminist perspectives. We are part of the global network of feminist judgments scholars.

Our Project focuses on opinions from state high courts rewritten by law students, who will go on to practice law, engage in advocacy, influence policy, participate in community organizing, and (we hope!) become judges. We also offer white papers for legislative and regulatory advocacy, and toolkits to guide equitable practices among judges, lawyers, law enforcement, and in workplaces, schools & universities, and other societal institutions. In this forum, we bring to the processes of judicial decision-making and advocacy perspectives from groups minoritized by the law and legal systems.

Our Judgments demonstrate that culturally and gender informed approaches to judicial decision-making can craft an inclusive legal system with justice at its center. Our white papers and toolkits demonstrate how justice can be operationalized through concrete action steps.
